Poetry... poems... rhymes... verses... and so on!

165th Post :

Poetry... poems... rhymes... verses... and so on!

Yesterday, the 21 March was 'World Poetry Day' and I can not say how it skipped my attention! Indeed it was a special day for poetry lovers from all over the world and they must have celebrated the great day with much fun, fanfare or gaiety or even some of them may have enjoyed poetry in their own way - in seclusion. Whatever be their preference, it was poetry that won the hearts of connoisseurs of poetry all over the world on the special day.

I love reading poems and I even ventured in writing some (funny or nonsense, 'serious', or even good, bad or ugly) during different occasions in the past. I am an ardent admirer and follower of the great Bengali poet, Sukumar Roy, whose funny, witty and nonsense rhymes have always taken me to another world of ecstasy and awe! I have even tried to follow his footsteps while trying my hands in writing nonsense poems myself. I still wonder about the voluminous creations of Rabindra Nath Tagore while I go through them. I also love and admire Jibananda Das, Michael Madhusudan Dutt, Sukanta Bhattacharyya, Annada Shankar Roy, Nirendranath Chakraborty, Sunil Gangopadhyay, Shakti Chattopadhyay, Sankha Ghosh, Joy Goswami... and if I take poems from other languages like English or Hindi, the list would become endless.

I wish to take the opportunity to present some of my recent poems through this posting, which I hope, you may like. And a picture created by me in the beginning.

Happy viewing.

Even ghosts love to enjoy their birthdays!

164th Post :

Even ghosts love to enjoy their birthdays!

Birthdays do not present themselves everyday! They are very special, come once in a year and stays for only 24 hours. They remind you of what you have done so far in your life - good, bad or ugly and guide you to chart your future path. To most, birthdays are meant for celebrations with cakes, candles, baloons. flowers, champaign, dance & music and of course, wth the choicest gourmets. To others, they are ideally suited for introspection, to look back, to take corrective measures for anything wrong they might have done in the past and to look forward to achieve their future goals. Both are right in their own ways. Believe me, even ghosts love to enjoy their birthdays with gaiety and fanfare!

Normally, I love to spend my birthdays in seclusion with serinity and peace of mind. To me, birthdays are always special. Today being my birthday. I wish to share some of my 'nonsense poems' and 3 pics from different stages of my life (the 1st one being the oldest photograph that I have in my possession and the last one, the most current) plus a funny picture drawn by me, through which I wish to celebrate my freedom.

A visual recipe worth relishing.

163rd Post :

A visual recipe worth relishing.

Imagine a recipe with ecstasy in mind.

Take a slice of desire. Wash it with emotion. Dip it in happiness. Allow it to soak for a few moments. Marinade with deep love, affection and warmth. Bake the slice inside your heart's oven. Take it out after baking. Add a dash of smile and a pinch of astonishment. Finally, put into it a few stones & pebbles, surf & sand and plenty of cool breeze. Do not forget to add a ray of sunlight... And you are ready to serve warm ecstasy to your loved ones. Enjoy.

Photographs taken by me in Puri and Chandrabhaga (Odisha), Digha (West Bengal), Ganapatipule and Mumbai (Maharashtra), India.

A simple recipe for a magical day - my funny poems.

162nd Post :

A simple recipe for a magical day...

Laugh... and the world laughs with you. Have fun... and everyone will share your happiness. But I must confess that saying this is much easier than performing. If you allow your ears to be used as my canvas, I may try to speak in pictures. Please permit me to use my tongue as a brush and all I'd want from you would be your imagination!.

To elaborate, I can just say that take one beach, soak in sunshine. gently drop jewels into rock pools, add the promise of buried treasure and season with stories of mermaids and seagulls. Finally, add plenty of children, because children are the main ingredient in my recipe. Just wait and watch what happens. You are sure to see a recipe for a magical day!

Here are seven of my nonsense poems and a 'computer mouse drawn' painting... all for you.
