Birth of a new word, 'BLOG'!

When I started writing my Blog for the 1st time on October 11, 2012, I didn't have the faintest idea about what a Blog could be! I was made to understand by my tech-savvy friends that a Blog is a sort of digital dairy published via internet to be viewed by people worldwide. It sounded appealing and I decided to try my hand on it. But nobody could throw any light about the origin of its name till one fine morning, I searched the internet to find that its name came from the combination of two words : WEB and LOG, where the letter 'B' from the 1st word combined with the 2nd word, 'LOG' to give birth to a new word, 'BLOG'! A wonderful discovery indeed! 

As I was not sure what should be the contents of my Blog, it remained dormant for 7 months - till 5 May 2013, when I decided to post my 2nd episode with 3 nonsense poems (with cartoons/illustrations), penned down by me. I became cleverer and went on to post more & more poems (mostly funny & nonsense Bengali rhymes/verses, in the line of the great Bengali humorist Sukumar Ray, whom I've ever considered as my unseen Guru), photographs taken by me, advertisement art-pulls created by me, so on & so forth.

Today, in this 126th episode, I feel privileged to enjoy a worldwide viewership of more than 8767 people (till 00.01 hrs IST), who have been kind enough to regularly visit my Blog. post comments or even suggest me towards its improvement. Thank you, my dear friends. I am really indebted to all of you. Please continue to patronize my Blog with your regular visits and comments etc.. Fun is an essential element of life.

Fun is an essential element of life. Often it is equated with satire or sarcasm, or both. Or it can highlight humor in such a subtle way in order to bring smile in our faces. When Groucho Marx says : "Marriage is the chief cause of divorce," we laugh and enjoy the sarcasm within it. And we have no other choice but to support his views. While there are many faces of satire, it can be directed toward one particular person, a whole country or even the world. A witty mind will always be on the lookout for good humor. And that is that! It's too hot & humid in Kolkata (India) and it has become extremely difficult to make my brain work!

FOOD... FOOD... AND FOOD...

Let me start my Blog with a few remarkable 'quotes' on food, collected from Internet, as today's posting is going to carry a few of my nonsense rhymes/poems in Bengali, each one of whom features food as its prime subject.  Here are the quotes :

Needless to say, I am grateful to the respective authors whose quotes reflect my feelings with so much of ease and clarity. Let me admit that I am an admirer (connoisseur?) of good food served to me by anyone in the world, irrespective of his or her nationality. And I am sure to find many among you who feel my way!
I believe, good food is something that can even change a person's heart in a positive way.

Something positive...

To me, everyday is "Mother's Day"... Today, 11th May, the 2nd Sunday of May is just a token declaration of the "Mother's Day" ! My tribute to all mothers worldwide...

The final phase of polling is about to end. Tomorrow, 12th May 2014 being the last day of polling, the noisy, yet hectic campaigning is already over. Elections do not appeal much to me. So many promises... so much of mud slinging... enough of character assassination... sporadic violence... so much of expenses! Each of them affects my psyche and I start feeling depressed and demoralized. What about pronouncing certain positive measures by the protectors of democracy? 

In a people's democracy, casting a vote is a basic duty of a citizen and I too have to abide by this. Politics is not my cup of tea. Yet I have penned down some nonsense rhymes/poems in Bengali in the recent past, hoping that people's democracy will see its good days again.

My nonsense poems in Bengali and my Blog.

This is my 123rd posting of my Blog. When I started writing my Blog on 11 October 2012 (and actively since 5 May 2013), I didn't have the faintest idea about a BLOG or what it is. I was not even aware that a Blog was a sort of online 'diary' to be read by anyone from any corner of the world. I had no idea about why a Blog is called a "Blog" and where from its name have been derived. Then one fine morning, I came to know from Internet that the short form of  Web-Log is known as Blog. What a grand discovery on my part !

Initially, my Blog was  photography oriented and I shared many of my photographs with my viewers. Then it featured my illustrations & sketches, layout & designs done by me for various clients and finally, with effect from 30 November 2013, my robinscreations.blogspot.in became mainly Bengali poem oriented carrying my nonsense poems/rhymes/verses. Today, I immensely enjoy sharing my poems with you and I truly appreciate your interest in it. Today, it is being viewed by over 8076 readers worldwide. Thank you, my dear friends. I gratetfully acknowledge your support. Please continue to extend your patronage, as always.
