THE CHALLENGE OF MAKING CALENDARS

Designing calendars are fascinating ! Deciding on a concept, converting it into a theme, then layout, then designing and finally finishing. Each stage poses a challenging task, because ultimately it has to satisfy the corporate client. I have been associated with the making of a number of calendars over the years with different concept & themes, but I feel it is the Tata Sponge Iron calendar that throws the daunting task before me, because of obvious reasons. The corporate house being headquartered in Joda, Odisha (India), every year a different theme has to chosen for them and all of them have to highlight Odisha - be it landscapes/seascapes/forests, its people, its cultures, its handicrafts, its archaeology... and so on and so forth. Till now, the challenges have been successfully faced. This time, I am posting the pages of their 2010 calendar featuring seas and beaches. Happily, the photographs are mine.
