Shimla : where mother nature mesmerizes your senses!

159th Post :

Shimla : where mother nature mesmerizes your senses!

Does the road wind uphill all the way? Or the day's journey take the whole long day from morning to night? Or the fog comes and then moves on? While we walked in a soundless space with footsteps quiet and slow, silence fell like dews and we knew it had to be Shimla, the queen of hills, the abode of peace, the place of the lone trail. Shimla is the place where lush green forests and bubbling streams mingle with the emerald meadows, whispering breeze and eternal snows. It is where mother nature mesmerizes your senses.

It may sound funny!

158th Posting :

It may sound funny!

Let me admit that I have become lazier than ever before. Not that winter has made me so, nor even my preoccupations, but, for reasons that I myself do not know - I feel reluctant to do even the mundane tasks I am supposed to perform nowadays. I wonder if my 'old' age has started catching up or the environs or happenings around me are affecting my psyche.

I love penning down Bengali nonsense rhymes/poems with funny illustrations, I love taking photographs outdoor and I enjoy sketching and painting as well. I even love to shoot small documentaries on subjects that catch my attention. But, believe me, everything is stalled for the time being at my end. Well, let me take an honest attempt to put me back to the rails again.

Here are six (6) of my recent poems - funny or not-so-funny, nonsense or not-so--nonsense and a picture drawn with the help of  my computer 'mouse'.

Dawn that welcomes the New Year!

157th Posting :

Dawn that welcomes the New Year!

The first sunshine on the leaves and grass... the first wind, laden with the first breath of the flowers... the first dew, untouched even by the light foot of the crawling insect... the first chirping of the birds ready to begin their song and flight... the moment when you first open your eyes after a deep night's sleep and wake up in the morning - you find your morning steals upon the light and you feel, it's beautiful, when the first dewy light breaks on the earth and the scented air breathes the cool freshness of the dawn. And it appears that the world before you is nothing short of paradise and how beautiful, glad, and buoyant is morning.

The pictures were taken by me in September 2014 at Kasauli (325 km from Delhi & 45 km from Shimla). Kasauli is a small hamlet in Himachal Pradesh, India. Please 'click' each individual picture to view its enlarged version.

Happy 2015.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year with my poems.

156th Posting :

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

As Google Doodle says : 'Tis the season!', I too echo their words. The weather is perfect (though chilly and snowy at some places), the backdrop is ready and it's time to celebrate with one and all. Yes, I repeat, one and all! Let's share all our pleasure and happiness with those who are deprived - for reasons they can not be held responsible.

The festive season is everyone's and celebrations should be the common word. My best wishes, love and congratulations to you all. Laugh or smile with my nonsense poems or rhymes in Bengali... and the world will laugh with you. Wishing you the best of everything.

Capturing India through my lenses.

155th Post : Capturing India through my lenses.

India - the land of the Vedas, Upanishadas, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata is the cradle of the human race and the mother of history and civilization. It stuns us by the richness of its land, by its lush beauty and elegant architectures and by its ability to mesmerize our senses with its colors, smells, tastes, sound and 'feels' and it is impossible not to be astonished by its creative burst of cultures, races, tradtions and religions.

It is indeed difficult to describe or understand India completely, because, as the famous french scholar Romain Rolland once said, "If there is one place on the face of earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India."

This 155th issue of my Blog brings 16 of my pictures taken during the last 15-20 years of my journey through different parts of India. Hope, these Kaleidoscopic pictures will tell you some stories about the great country, India - my motherland. You may 'click' any individual picture and view the enlarged/zoomed version of it.
