LANDSCAPES... WATERSCAPES... CITYSCAPES...CLOUDSCAPES...

LANDCSAPES... WATERSCAPES... CITYSCAPES... CLOUDSCAPES...

My last weekend passed off peacefully and I took a Sunday off from my Blog. I am back and would like to share my experiences with you regarding photographing my favorite subject - the scenic beauty of nature. These we may call landscapes, mountainscapes, seascapes, waterscapes, cityscapes, cloudscapes and so on, and I would like to call these simply 'landscapes'.

Surprisingly, every landscape has its moods, which change during different times of the year, different times of day or night, different lighting conditions and weather. One has to be particular in reading the 'mood' of the landscape and only then the shoots will be successful. Shooting landscapes is indeed one of the most challenging types of photography.

The photo gears needed (beside the camera) may vary from using wide angle lenses, normal lenses, telephoto lenses and zooms to tripods, filters, flashgun, filters and other accessories. Its a fairly wrong idea to think that shooting only with wide angle lenses will give dramatic pictures. Our normal eye sees everything within a cone with an angle of view of about 46 degrees, when our eyes are placed at the vertex and the normal 50 mm lens is very near to it in terms of the viewing angle. Wide angle lens gives a wider view than normal and the telephoto offers a much narrower view. Always remember to create a nice 'composition' with the landscapes. If need be, try to keep a foreground subject like a tree, a hut, an animal or even a human figure in the frame - which will act as a scale and will describe the vastness of the hills, valleys, deserts or the sea. The possibilities are enormous. Thus pick up your camera, go places and shoot landscapes.

The photographs below were taken by me during various occasions in the past. Your comments are most welcome. Happy viewing...
