IN PHOTOGRAPHY, WHAT MATTERS MOST IS THE COMPOSITION...

IN PHOTOGRAPHY, WHAT MATTERS MOST IS THE COMPOSITION...

What makes a picture say, if not a thousand, at least ten words? What are the essential basic elements of a good photograph? How do we differentiate between 'good' and 'not so good' pictures? How can we convert 'just ordinary' snapshots into 'something extraordinary'? While we shoot something - indoors or outdoors, do we ever visualize in advance about the final output? Think.

I am not talking about the masterpieces, but what we 'click' on different occasions must be pleasing to the eyes. A good photograph should evoke the 'same feeling' in the minds of the viewers that existed in the mind of the photographer when he or she took the shot !  A few small things that matter in photography are : the subject, the light conditions, the textures (if any), the pattern, the backgrounds as well as foregrounds, the 'taking angle', the apertures & speeds for the correct exposures, the focus and the digital or analogue 'film speed' and the 'placement of subjects' in the frame - in short, the overall 'composition' of the photograph. Remember, Photoshop can not be the answer always. It can surely enhance the quality of a picture by offering various options, but, it can do nothing to improve the basic flaws, if the 'mother photo' is defective. Remember, there is a fine thread that separates a 'good photo' from an 'ordinary snapshot'. Take care while shooting.

With this posting, I am attaching 14 pictures of Mumbai taken by me during my earlier visits to the great city. Please feel free to comment or criticize by clicking the "No comments/Comments" button at the end of this posting. Happy Viewing...
