PHOTOGRAPHING INDIAN VILLAGES.

PHOTOGRAPHING INDIAN VILLAGES...

The 'real' India lives in its villages, where the major basic business - agriculture is practiced. Most Indian villages are small and the lifestyles of most of the rural people are simple. Indian people are quite friendly, courteous and hospitable. In spite of poverty prevalent in many places, harmony and eternal bliss can be seen among the villagers, though in certain areas the picture is different.

Occasionally there are incidents of unrest - both political and non-political, which is why before attempting to make photographic ventures in the rural areas, it is always wise and advisable to enquire beforehand from the relevant authorities about the safety and security of that particular place and whether photography can be undertaken without any hassle. India being a vast country, myriad customs are practiced in the rural areas and thus you, as a photographer should be cautious and should not hurt the religious or social values of the villagers during any of your visits.

Today's posting carries a few of my village photographs taken during different occasions in the past. These pictures were taken in Odisha and Jharkhand - two important states in the eastern part of India.
