GROOM'S DAY IS NOT DOOMSDAY !
In the 2nd Bengali month of Jaisthya, the 6th day from the full moon is an auspicious day, "Sasthee". It is the day when Jaamai Sasthee is observed in the Bengali Hindu household to pray for the happiness and health of the bridegroom. It also means a happy conjugal life between the girl and the groom. On this day, the Jaamai or the groom is treated with sumptuous food & sweets and blessed with precious gifts. The celebration is meant to ensure that everything goes well for the girl in her in-law's family during her stay with them.
The days have changed. The rituals have faded. Yet "Jaamai Sasthee" hasn't lost much of its flavor. Today, 30 Jaisthya 1420 (13 June 2013) is the special day when the rituals & celebrations are being observed in Bengal with fanfare.
On this day, 5 (five) humorous/witty nonsense rhymes with relevant cartoons related to "Jaamai Sasthee" are being posted by me in this Blog - only for you ! Enjoy...
